Gear pumps are classified into three major types according to gear engagement.

Gear-pump

Gear Pump with Externally Engage

This is the most common and straightforward gear pump. In the independent drives – By the forced displacement work by varying Volumes in the cavity and engaging gears. This is a powerful pump with a low price category. Compared to the Internally employed pumps – This pump can achieve higher pressure; however, its size is more significant.

Gear Pump with Internally Engage

This is a modification with the driven gear placed inside the driven equipment having more oversized dia, driven equipment takes place on a crescent-shaped part manufactured of steel. Whenever the bag circulates, this structure provides high volume – as a result of the internally engaged pump to get the suction effect.

Three-gear pumps

This gear pump includes single and double-driven gear, multiple suction and discharge cavities. These pumps are more effective for hydraulic drives wherever an independent discharge line is required.

Major pump components

In this pump, the Main body is made of Aluminum alloy, and the bearing unit inside the Body part has the drive gear and driven gear & wear and tear parts.

Gear pump: operation principle

The gear Pump includes two gears placed in the casing. One bag is operated by an electric motor installed on the axis, and another is rotated due to the engagement of gear teeth. During operation, gear teeth get liquid, moving away from the suction side to the discharge side. Due to the tight arrangement of teeth, operating liquid backwards is possible.

A gear pump is classified as a rotor type of machine; they are an everyday object for devices with gear wheels. In this pump, liquid moves in a straight plane. As a result, the liquid is transferred from the suction cavity to the discharge cavity.
